Why is it always so easy to blame a daughter-in-law even for things she didn't do?

“I am being blamed for something which I did not do or have no role in.

My husband had differences with his younger brother and because of which he decided to move out of his parents home. But for all the family, I am the one who took away their son from them.

I have been insulted about this more than once; the relatives have called me to try and explain to me to convince, Saugat, my husband to move back. I tried talking to Saugat, but he is heartbroken by the preferential treatment his younger brother was given by his parents, in dividing the property, and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with them now.

AND SO NOW I AM THE WITCH WHO BROKE THEIR FAMILY APART.

I AM CALLED A BAD OMEN IN THE FAMILY.

My in-laws say that ever since I came I have only wrecked unhappiness on them and now I took their son away.

My mother-in-law even cursed me saying that I too shall be deprived of my son’s love the same way as she.

WHY AM I BEING BLAMED FOR A DECISION THE SON TOOK.

Random relatives have called me to tell me how bad I am; I have not been invited to any family gatherings; people have ostracized me; my in-laws curse me…

Can you imagine the stress I am living through each day?

I can’t sleep at night, I am afraid to answer the phone, I feel shame in meeting people…

I have apologized for a crime I did not do…

BUT IT IS EASY FOR EVERYONE TO BLAME THE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW….

Is this the way I should be treated?

Why doesn’t everyone leave me alone and let me live in peace.

I am abused and called a witch who did some black magic…

I am also someone’s child loved and nurtured and I should be treated with respect,” says Bharti Soni, 34, resident of Lucknow.
